Later that night, we all sat along the front of the cottage, looking back at the mainland. It was quite still now, and we took in the magnificent view, across the water, lit by Cape Spencer's reflection on the water. This was paradise. Our delayed departure meant that we didn't eat until 9:30, and midnight was fast approaching. I had been quick to lay claim to the bed on the enclosed porch. Raised high, I climbed into bed and fell asleep to the entrancing flashes of light.
